New kid on the block.
Hey, guys! My name is Layne, and if you've been to a Friday night bootcamp or to a Superset Sunday, you've seen me. I'm the new trainer you don't recognize, but I'm here now to formally introduce myself if we haven't had a chance to talk yet.My life in the fitness industry didn't come from a burning desire to see how much weight I could lift or how fast I could sprint... it came from an illness and injury. I became interested in running because my sister in law was diagnosed with breast cancer. She asked me to run a Warrior Dash with her, and I did. That sparked a fire in me to run more... which lead to the ultimate goal of running a marathon.I trained as well as I could. I have a bum knee (surgery lead to 50% meniscus removal), so my mileage didn't quite meet the recommended requirements. Still, I ventured out to that marathon and I put down every last step of those 26.2 miles. It wasn't pretty. I cried. I fell down. A lot. I finished in 6 hours and 22 minutes. But I didn't quit. I didn't quit that race, and I didn't quit running since then. That sparked something in me. I understand pain and injury, and my desire to help others grew. It's easy to quit, but when you have someone on your side cheering you on and helping you work through your roadblocks (let's be honest, it's not always a physical game) you can achieve so much.More that you ever thought possible! If this bum knee can cross the finish line, so can you. I'd love to help you get there. So hey. It's nice to meet you. I'm Layne!
