Matt loses 40 lbs in 90 days!

matt parra before and afterSUCCESS STORY!I found out about Freight House Fitness when Sean and Kendra literally showed up at my job one day. There had been some chatter around the workplace that they were coming to meet with us as well as an overall mission throughout the company to be more conscientious of health. I had started using MyFitnessPal a couple weeks prior to them coming but I didn’t really have any knowledge about nutrition or how to eat healthy. I was inspired by Sean’s story of how he had been overweight when he was younger and how he had dedicated his life to helping others achieve what he had achieved. I could tell he was genuine and the gym seemed legit. After deciding to give the gym a shot with some co-workers I signed up for the 1st month to “check it out”.matt sideI had always been a pretty skinny person growing up. I played sports throughout grade school and high school and kept a good physique weighing around 185 lbs. I ate whatever I wanted and got away with it. I worked out sparingly and I honestly thought that’s how I would live my life. I was under the impression that I was blessed some type of mega metabolism that was running on overdrive and would withstand the test of time. This super metabolism of mine come to a screeching halt in my early twenties. I was working a construction job and that had to of helped burn some calories but the weight was coming on slowly and by 22 I had jumped to around 210 lbs. The story stayed the same for many years after that. I would go through mini streaks of eating healthy and see minimal success here and there but nothing that ever became routine or even seemed maintainable. When I started college at 25 and found myself even less active than when I was working construction, the weight started to accumulate again. By the end of college I was weighing around 245 and was in the worst possible shape of my life. My muscle mass had deteriorated to next to nothing and the thought of getting back into shape just seemed like an unsurmountable goal. I had always thought I would get back into shape in the back of my head but the reality of it happening was becoming farther and farther away. Sean and Kendra just showed up at MySmartPlans, my place of employment, one day and hearing Sean tell his story and how he had been overweight when he was younger as well as how he had dedicated his life to helping others achieve their own personal health goals was inspiring. I had dropped a little bit of weight through the use of MyFitnessPal and weighed in at 231 the day they visited my workplace. I decided to give it a shot and my journey began. The first class was nuts. I got there after it started and found an empty spot in the front of the class. The whole thing seemed like a blur. It was fast paced, there were minimal breaks, and I had no idea what the hell I was doing. I remember asking Kendra after my 3rd class if it was “normal” that I literally could not complete any of the workouts. After finding out my muscles were in a state of shock I pushed on. The welcoming atmosphere at Freight House Fitness had me returning for my 30 min punishments day after day. I could feel my energy levels rising and I was starting to see results. After 3 months I had dropped 20 and was weighing in at 211 before I fractured my ankle and ended up in a boot for a few weeks and out of the gym for a couple months. This was a really frustrating time for me because I saw my hard work slipping away just like it had every other time I had begun making the progress. The thing about this time was that it was out of my hands. I started eating pretty liberally and stopped logging my meals. By the time I was cleared to start working out again I had put on almost all of my initial luggage and weighed 228 lbs. This is when I decided to do the 90 Day Challenge I heard so much about. I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into and the fact that it was during so many great holidays made it seem daunting but I decided to take the plunge. I had read the success stories from those who had went through the process before me and I wanted a piece of the action. The challenge became increasingly more difficult as it progressed but I did what Sean and Kendra told me to do and week after week I watched the number on the scale drop. I definitely had my ups and downs during the challenge but I couldn’t be happier with what I was able to achieve in such a short time period. I finished out the challenge weighing 189.4 lbs. A total loss of 38.6 lbs during the 90 day period. The structure of the challenge made it possible along with the leadership from Sean and Kendra and the friends I had made from my daily trek to the gym. Working out had finally become a part of my life and my knowledge of nutrition had improved tenfold. My decision to do the challenge is the best decision I have ever made for my own personal health and was a game changer in so many ways.matt backMy future goal is to continue with the post 90 day plan and to keep coming to bootcamps. I don’t even feel right if I miss a day. It has become routine and I owe it all to Sean, Kendra, and their brainchild Freight House Fitness. Sean and Kendra, I really can’t say enough nice things about you guys and am truly grateful for all you both have done for me. I hope my story inspires others as others’ stories inspired me. You should both be very proud of what you have created with Freight House. It was like no other gym I had ever stepped into before. It was welcoming. I didn’t feel out of place and I wanted to come back. I wanted to feel like I was going to fall down the stairs after every class for the first 2 weeks in April of this past year.
