Lori Loses 13lbs & Gains So Much More!
Success Story!!
I struggled with body image for a good portion of my life. I always felt like I
should
be working out and
should
be eating healthier so that I could look skinnier, more "beautiful". There was a lot of shame and insecurity surrounding it. It wasn't until I finally started to want to be
healthy
rather than
thin
that I was able to begin making healthier choices. I've been through a few bouts of fitness throughout the years, but nothing has ever stuck, and I always fell out of routine. Yet I learned that I was happier, healthier, and more confident when fitness and healthy eating were a part of my life, so when I moved to Kansas City last year (totally out of shape),I knew I wanted to find a gym that would offer a structure I could stick with long term. Freight House has become that home for me!
It has everything that works for me -- flexible scheduling, short but intense and varied classes, a wide variety of fitness levels, workouts that allow you to modify or challenge yourself as needed, encouraging and driven trainers, lots of badass strong women, support with diet and meal plans, and a welcoming, motivating, and fun environment.
I started with a six week challenge in January, so I could have structure and accountability. I was planning to only commit to three classes per week, but Baylie encouraged me to try for four. I ended up easily fitting in five classes per week, and loved it.
Five months later
, it's just become part of my routine.
My first few weeks at Freight House, I was constantly sore and could barely finish the workouts... But I was supported, not judged, for being out of shape. The trainers helped me out, and encouraged me to go at the pace I needed to. I started to see my strength increase quickly. Then I decided to do the 30 Day Shred to really challenge myself and see what my body could be capable of. In those 30 days, with the increased structure and standards of the weekly protocols, I learned how to better control my diet, and I dropped 13 pounds and 3.4% body fat.
I now weigh less and have more muscle definition than I ever have in my adult life. Since I started at Freight House, I've lost 6.4% body fat and 5 inches from my waist. More importantly, I am making my decisions out of positive motivation and enjoyment (yes, I now enjoy going to the gym!) rather than shame and insecurity, and because of that I am stronger and more confident in my own skin than I ever have been before.
I'm so grateful for Freight House, and I look forward to continuing to challenge and strengthen my body at my new gym home!
