Karen loses 26 lbs in 90 days!
Success Story!"Before the challenge:Fitness used to be a top priority for me, with tough workouts being my main "hobby." I loved running, biking, scuba diving...anything active. I ran a marathon and some half marathons, played football, and even became a personal trainer for a while. I tended to be pretty restrictive with my diet. Then I got married and had two kids. I did Crossfit through my first pregnancy, but I didn't restrict my diet at all, so I gained a lot of weight. I worked out between pregnancies, but nothing compared to my pre-baby workouts. During my second pregnancy, I started working out at Freight House Fitness. I came back to FHF as soon as I could after having my second baby to get my fitness back.During the challenge:I thought I knew what I needed to do to lose weight...and I guess I did, but there is a big difference between knowing and doing. Even though I was always good about eating healthy, whole foods, I realized when I was busy balancing everything involved in being a working mom and wife, I ate way too much fat (too often my dinner was several big scoops of peanut butter), not enough protein, and probably not even enough carbs. The challenge really taught me a lot about the importance of balancing macronutrients, actually measuring my food, and keeping a food diary so I know I'm feeding my body properly. The accountability and camaraderie of the group were invaluable. People around me noticed changes in me immediately. I was able to lose 26 lbs in 90 days while successfully continuing to breastfeed my baby. (I am NOT one of those lucky moms who loses weight because of breastfeeding). Sean and Kendra were awesome about working with me as far as trying to lose the weight while maintaining my milk supply for my baby. After:I feel so much better about myself now with the weight I've lost. I fit into a lot of my pre-baby clothes again, which I didn't even think would be possible a few months ago! I still have more weight to lose, so I am continuing to measure and track my food (most of the time), and I am continuing my workouts. My current goals are to lose a specific amount of weight and run a half marathon in 6 months. Once I get there, I will start setting some specific strength goals. If there are any new moms reading this who feel hopeless about losing weight and gaining (or regaining) fitness while caring for a family, please know you can do it!" - Karen
