Tony Kicks His Diabetes to the Curb!!
My personal weight loss journey started a little over a year ago. Prior to this, I was not eating healthy at all. I was drinking a gallon of milk every third day, doughnuts for breakfast, fast food for lunch, and sweets throughout my day at the office. I started having some health issues, so I went to see my doctor. It was then that I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My doctor told me I needed to change my eating habits and lifestyle if I wanted any chance of reversing what I had done to my body. That’s when my wife said, “Look, you can continue doing what you’re doing or you can be here for our future grandkids. It’s your choice.” That was all I needed to hear!I started eating healthier and signed up at a gym. I started going to “World Exercise” to work on reversing the damage I had done. But, it felt cold and there wasn’t any interaction with anyone. Everyone had their earbuds on and doing their own thing, which is ok for some, but I needed more. In addition, it seemed I had plateaued and I couldn’t get under 200 pounds. My wife mentioned that I looked great with losing all of that weight, but I could really benefit by going to FHF to help with me with my muscle definition. My first class was October 29, 2018 and I was immediately hooked! One thing she insisted I do was take photos and measurements so I could appreciate the journey and validate my results.I’ve learned so much while attending FHF these last 5 months. I did the 30 day shred and learned about what to eat and how much to eat every day. During this time, FHF helped me reach my lowest weight that I haven’t been at since 1991. I reached 190 pounds and I was starting to see some muscle definition too! Whenever I asked questions, the staff was there to answer them. If I wasn’t able to do a certain exercise due to a previous injury, they showed me an alternative to get a similar effect. Speaking of the staff, they are the best! The culture Sean and Kendra has created and passed down to all of their staff, makes the gym so much more inviting and fun. Because of their encouragement, I look forward to going to the gym every day.I live in the northland and drive just under 20 minutes to get to FHF. I could have easily searched for another gym up north, but I couldn’t ask for a better one. It turns out that driving downtown to workout is more convenient than I thought it would be. I can drive in, work out and then head on to the office.Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I no longer have type 2 diabetes. Thanks FHF for helping me achieve many of my goals and helping me continue to be a better me. Looks like I’ll be here for those grandkids after all!
