I moved to Kansas City in November of 2018 to start a new and amazing career.  Unfortunately, my husband wasn’t able to move with me right away so I just decided to throw myself into work.  It wasn’t until after Christmas that I realized I had to get my fitness back on track… and that I needed to start making some friends in the area.  My weight and diet had always fluctuated, and I could never get out of the “skinny fat” stage. I started running on the treadmill but would easily get bored.   I knew I needed something that would challenge myself. I read all the reviews that people had posted about FHF and couldn’t believe that they had such high rating so I had to go check them out.  The first class I went to was so much fun and I found myself getting back into my competitive side and really enjoying the workout.  I couldn’t believe that 30 minutes flew by so fast. Unfortunately, my excitement wore off as soon as I woke up the next morning and could barely get out of bed, I was SO SORE.  I knew I had to keep going because I was not about to waste my two-week trial so I continued to attend classes each and every day for two weeks straight. The soreness began to wear away completely. Well, until last week when we had to do jumping jacks/star jumps to the song “Happy”, I think I’m still sore.  Then came the 6-week challenge, which really helped me realize that I was eating a 70% carb-filled diet! Focusing on getting protein was and is such a challenge.  Since I’m a vegetarian it’s hard to find foods that are protein based without all the added carbs. The trainers at FHF were so awesome and supportive during the entire challenge, I would not have been able to finish it without their motivation.  I believe the best part about joining FHF was the people.  Just 5 months ago I didn’t know one person in Kansas City and now I feel like I’m a part of the family.  I’m finally feeling confident in my body and feel actually strong for the first time in my life. I had one goal during the whole challenge, to do ONE chin-up.  It took me the entire 6 weeks, but I finally achieved my goal on the very last day of the challenge. Maybe I’ll aim for two chin-ups next time.
