Melissa gets in IRONMAN shape!
SUCCESS STORY!!!"I first heard about Freight House Fitness from a co-worker. There was a noticeable change to her physical appearance and her overall happy-go-lucky attitude. She told me about a 90-day challenge she was doing through her gym. I shrugged it off as a missed opportunity for myself. Then a few months later, another friend of mine was posting on Facebook about a 90-day challenge she was doing, with noticeable results as well. I started asking questions. It turns out about four people I work with and a couple random friends all go to Freight House Fitness.I tend to be one of those “bad break up gets you down, so you get fit to snap out of being down” type people. My “2016 New Years resolution” fell into this category - recent break up, put on weight and needed a change.I knew little about this challenge, except people got results, and that’s what I wanted. I was no stranger to “if it fits your macros,” nor heavy lifting, nor endurance exercises. However, nothing worked consistently in the past for me.The first month of the challenge, I had to swallow my pride - knee push-ups, lighter weights than expected, breaks between reps; however, I followed the program as prescribed. I started to see results. I felt stronger and happier. I could string 10 burpees together without dying.Second month, I was all in. Other people started noticing my results. I started talking (a lot) about the challenge. It became part of my life.Another New Years goal I have for 2016 is to run at least one race each month. In January, I could barely run 3 miles without needing to stop. By the beginning of the third month of this 90-day challenge, I was able to run a half marathon every weekend. Breaking PRs left and right. I was proud of all my achievements, but more so I finally found something I was proud to invest all my effort into. The third month was the hardest. I wanted to “spoil” my body/spirit that I had transformed. That’s where I started to realize this is a life change. Not every meal is going to be healthy, not every workout is going to feel great, but in the end the CONSISTENCY MATTERS. Give in a little here or there, but stay on the wagon. There are so many reasons why Freight House Fitness became the perfect recipe for me. It’s not just about how heavy you can lift. It’s not just eating salads and grilled chicken. It’s the community of people that are happy to see you grow, help you out and cheer you on, DAILY! It’s about the “quick” 30-minute sessions that give you results AND you can use with other training (triathlons, running, more bootcamps) to keep getting stronger and decrease the risk of injuries.Since my 90-day challenge, I’ve completed my first Ironman 70.3 and have never felt more prepared for a race. Someone once told me I should decide whether I want to be a runner or triathlete or crossfitter. What Freight House has taught me is that I CAN do it all. In order to be increasingly healthier, I need to be well rounded. That’s what Freight House Fitness is to me – an essential cog for my fitness stability.
