imageSUCCESS STORY! " I was athletic in high school, I played football and ran as well as jumped in track and field. I never had to worry about what I ate since I couldn't gain weight even when I tried. I actually worried then if I was going to be skinny forever! Fast forward to college, while I did participate in some intramural sports, it was no where near the level of physical activity in high school. I also discovered bad eating/drinking habits, being on my own for the first time, which slowly ate away at my metabolism. After graduating and moving to Kansas City I still did not have a clue about how nutrition works. All of that changed almost 2 years ago when my beautiful baby boy was born. I suddenly had these feelings that I needed to start exercising and eating right since this little person needed a healthy me around to raise him. I went to a couple different gyms in the area, but had to get up extremely early since that was the only time it would really fit into my schedule. While I was getting stronger and fit at these other gyms I was not losing any weight and couldn't notice any physical changes to my body. Then, Sean and Kendra came into my office one day to discuss nutrition and created a weight loss competition with my co-workers. Just receiving my measurements before and after, was an eye opening opportunity.Multiple coworkers started going to Freighthouse every day at their noon class so I decided I would join them once in a while, since that would fit into my schedule much better. After a few months of switching to their gym, going to class every weekday and hearing everyone talk about this 90 day challenge, one of my co-workers decided to try it. I watched as he measured his foods out every day and he would talk about how he was dropping a few pounds every week while gaining muscle! That looked like the exact results I have been trying to achieve for a long time.I signed up for the 90 day challenge starting 1/4/2016. At the first meeting we took measurements and went over how everything was going to work and what calories we could eat based on our weight as well as our macros. So I took all of that information in and bought the necessary food. The next few weeks I could not even eat all of the food I was supposed to have! Literally just stuffing my face at every meal thinking there is no way this is going to help me lose weight! As it turns out my metabolism had been slowed down after years of not eating well and drinking, so we were revving it back up again! After a few weeks those feelings subsided and I would eat my meal and finish with some fiber to give me that full feeling. I got into a routine and the diet became part of my daily life and meal prepping on the weekends became easier. By the end of the 90 day challenge I dropped 41.6 lbs. and went from 21% to 11% body fat. My clothes fit much looser on me and I have almost much muscle as I did in high school.I would definitely recommend the 90 day challenge for anyone coming from any fitness level as it really opened my eyes to nutrition as a whole and what to do to maintain a healthy living style!
