FRED WENT FROM 218 LBS TO 173 LBS, 26% BODY FAT TO 17.5%

After moving back to Kansas City from Scottsdale AZ in July 2018, I made a decision that I needed to get back into shape.  I hadn’t focused on my physical fitness and attended a gym with any regularity for over 28 years.  My diet was unhealthy and I lacked energy throughout the day.  There is a history of heart issues in our family so I needed to get in shape as a proactive measure for my cardiovascular health.   I previously had a memberships at franchise clubs that I stopped using after a few months and started / stopped a few times. For me it was hard to stay engaged due to the format and culture in the franchise health clubs and just wasn’t a fit.  I also don’t enjoy working out at home.  

I meet Sean at our Church prior to moving from Kansas City to Scottsdale in 2013 and remembered that he had a plan to start a fitness business which resulted in Freight House Fitness.  In February 2019 I stopped by Freight House, in the West Bottoms, where  I met two of the coaches and decided to attend a few sessions. Prior to attending my first session I felt some anxiety though once I got to the gym I felt welcomed and enjoyed the bootcamp format.  The coaches are great and they demonstrate each exercise in the workout routine which helped me when I first started.  They do a nice job of keeping everyone motivated, and watch your form, making suggestions if your open to learning.  The sessions are 30 minutes in length and are as intense as I made them.  After a 2 week trail period I signed up for the 42 day challenge, started attending 3 days a week and made a commitment to eating healthy diet.  One of the coaches told me “Fred you can’t out work the fork”.  After attending for a month I was hooked and started attending classes 5 to 6 days a week.  After 6 months I started personal training sessions with Brandon twice a week who has really help me with fitness goals, form and fine turning and I’ve had amazing results.  I’m 5’ 11” and in 7 months, went  from 218lbs to 173lbs, 26% body fat to 17.5%, and 4 inches off my waist and most importantly I’m staying in shape continuing to gain overall strength and not increase my body fat percentage. Not only have I gain strength and endurance, reducing my brain fog during the day and I continue to work on mobility and flexibility.  The combination of bootcamp classes and personal training has been the right mix for me.

The owners of FH, Sean and Kendra, and Coaches (Brandon, Stephen, Erika, Jordan) are all fantastic and truly care and are passionate about people succeeding with their goals.  They take time to get to know you and there is a sense of community with the members.  I believe that people can feel the passion that is created by the FH team as it resonates in the culture.  This a key element for me continuing to stay engaged and a significant difference from other gyms that I had been too.  I look forward too my morning workouts now.  A big thank you to all the Freight House team for your dedication in make FH to an awesome place.
