Dustin Leans Out For His Wedding and Keeps the Momentum Going!
I have played competitive soccer every week for the last 20 years, but it had been a long time since I had committed to "getting in shape." I’ve tried several gyms around town, but nothing felt quite right. I would join for about a year, and then talk myself out of needing a gym since I was "fit enough” from playing soccer.
The end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 was a chaotic time. I saw the FreightHouse Groupon and thought I would try to contain that chaos, and take the reins on the one thing I could control: myself. After the first class I could tell that FH was the fit I was looking for.
I joined in July and started coming to class 5 to 6 times a week. To make sure I stayed on track I joined my first challenge. It really helped to keep me motivated for attending class. I had one main goal to achieve. I was getting married in September and I was going to look as good in my suit as possible. It worked, and I am keeping the momentum of that great day going!
For my “After" photos, I had a different goal: proof of lifting my family's carnival dumbbell above my head. In the early 1900s, several of my family members were part of a traveling carnival. They were the strongmen performers, and we have a dumbbell they used for the show. It has since been trimmed from 300lbs to 150lbs because it was too heavy to transport. Reaching that goal has now inspired my brother and dad to work out so they can press it too.
Overall, I dropped to 175lbs from 208lbs two years ago, and I saw the greatest tranformation happen since joining FreightHouse when I was 190lbs. I lost 5% body fat since July while swapping my fat weight for lean muscle weight. I am currently on my third challenge in a row and don’t plan on stopping.
